CHAPARRAL TOLIMA

I am Yarledi Silva Esquivel,I am 40 years old, I live in the municipality of chaparral Tolima.

Chaparral, It is a Colombian municipality located to the south of the department of Tolima, approximately 163 km from the capital of Tolima, Ibagué, and approximately 250 km from the Capital District, Bogotá. Its name is thanks to the large number of plants that receive the name of Chaparros where the municipality is.

ECONOMY

 

Chaparral is a mainly agricultural municipality, but its commercial and service activity is also exalted. Its main economic activity is coffee, but it also highlights the livestock production of panela, plantain, yucca, beans, avocado, guanabana, among other products. Trade, is one of the most important sectors of the local economy, according to Tolima in Figures, for the year 2010, Chaparral had 1,221 trade establishments, registered in the Chamber of Commerce of the South and East of Tolima Chaparral has a total of five financial entities: - Banco Davivienda - Bancolombia - Banco de Bogotá - Banco Agrario de Colombia - Banco Mundo Mujer In Chaparral, the Río Amoyá Hydroelectric Plant, La Esperanza, is located, with an installed capacity of 80 MW (Megawatts) for an average annual power generation of 510GWh / year. This project is located on the Amoyá River, It consists of the use of the waters of the Amoyá and Davis rivers with a water catchment system, therefore it does not have a reservoir. The plant uses a maximum flow of 18.4 cubic meters per second, equivalent to the average flow of the Amoyá River in the catchment site. The net jump is 518.40 meters, corresponding to a nominal level in the cargo tank of 1,478.7 meters above sea level and a turbine level of 960.30 meters above sea level. This plant transfers to the municipality 3% of the rates for block sales indicated by the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (CREG).

TOURISM 

 

In the urban center the visitor can find tourist places like the house of republican court; Casa Dario Echandía, where the Chamber of Commerce of the South and East of Tolima operates, a place that in the 20th century was converted into a Presidential Office by President Darío Echandía Olaya. Also, tourists can visit the San Juan Bautista Church located in front of Parque los Presidentes, taste a delicious Colombian coffee in the Coffee Shop. Finally, in the urban area of ​​Chaparral, the tourist can enjoy typical dishes of the region such as the tamale and the tolimense suckling pig, oats and buñuelos, black pudding and other typical dishes, in the Market Square, located two blocks from the park. the presidents. Chaparral has more than 7 public swimming pools, among them the Club Tuluni, Cointrasur Club, Estadero el Estadio, Estadero Comfenalco, Estadero La Finca, Estadero la Española; among others. In the rural sector, there are several tourist places, such as Las Hermosas National Natural Park located at more than 3,000 meters above sea level. The Tuluní Caves, the Copete caves, as well as the El Tambor Charco over the Tuluní River, the Santana Sector, the mouth of the Ambeima River over the Amoya River. According to Tolima in Cifras, Chaparral has more than 24 hotels, with a capacity of 324 rooms and 714 beds. In the urban area there is taxi and collective service.
